How to Find Scholarships for Women

This web page was updated January 2023.

How to find scholarships for women / girls is a very popular question. Definitely, there are college scholarships and grants based on all kinds of criteria including whether you are female or male. Following will be a list of scholarships for women. However, we feel that we need to explain some things. Although there are college scholarships for women, a majority of the scholarships have very specific, limiting eligibility requirements so only some women can apply for specific scholarships. For example, some scholarships for women are awarded at a specific college. If the woman does not want to go to that particular college that is offering the scholarship for women, then that female is not able to apply for that particular scholarship for women.  Another example is careers. We have seen a number of very good scholarships for women offered if they want to go into a specific field. If the women do not want to choose that particular career option then they can not apply for those scholarships for women that are for only that particular career. A majority of the thousands of college grants and scholarships offered to students have very specific, limiting eligibility requirements that restrict just who can apply for those scholarships. WE HAVE SEEN THE FRUSTRATION. We have seen so many scholarship questions, such as:

Are there any scholarships for women?

Are there any scholarships for diabetics?

Are there any scholarships for mothers?

Are there any scholarships for single moms or parents?

Are there any scholarships for African-Americans and Hispanics?

The questions go on and on about college grants and scholarships and how to find scholarships. The answer is YES, there are scholarships for women, diabetics, mothers, single moms, African-Americans, Hispanics, military personnel, and more. However, there are NOT A LOT of college grants and scholarships based on these specific criteria. For this web page, we did the research on scholarships for women. There are scholarships for women but, BUT there are not many that have almost no eligibility requirements. Most of them have some specific, limiting eligibility requirements so only a relatively few women can apply for those scholarships. We will attempt to list the scholarships for women that are “portable” where the application money can go to just about any female citizen or legal resident of the United States and go to the school of their choice. Having said that, there are so very few of these type of “open” scholarships for women that we will list some scholarships that have some limiting eligibility requirements, BUT we hope that quite a few women will be able to apply for these scholarships. At the bottom of this web page, we will give advice on how to find more scholarships that are for just about any U.S. citizen or legal resident, not only for women.

PLEASE NOTE: BE CAREFUL:

We decided to write the following statement about being careful on applying for scholarships that MAY no longer be available. From our experience of trying to list scholarships that are currently available, we have found that many scholarships stay on the World Wide Web, although the organizations that at one time funded the scholarships, NO LONGER fund the scholarship. We have found that all the information is on the organization's web page, BUT, the date for applying for that scholarship may be a couple years old. Our best advice is that IF a scholarship is listed on a web page AND the date of application is more than a year old, then it is VERY PROBABLE that the scholarship is NOT AVAILABLE. Our best advice is that if you are interested in a scholarship that has older information, then PLEASE TRY TO CONTACT them to see IF the scholarship is currently being offered. Definitely, a number of organizations may delay funding a scholarship for a year or two. However, there are many scholarships that are found on web pages that have been there for years that have NOT been funded for years.

How to Find More College Grants and Scholarships

There are NOT many scholarships for women that just about any woman can apply for. Most college scholarships have specific, narrow, eligibility requirements that limit who can apply for those scholarships. It is easy to understand how students can become frustrated trying to find scholarships that they can apply for according to the eligibility requirements.

The following two web pages at this website will provide more information about college scholarships that are based on other eligibility requirements than just the single requirement of being a woman: College Grants and Scholarships Listed on the World Wide Web and the College Grants and Scholarships Listed in Books web page.

YouTube Video:  How to Find College Grants and Scholarships is a short six-minute video that gives you an overall look at where to find college grants and scholarships. If you have no idea on where to start to find financial aid, then this video will give you a good idea on how to go about finding free money in the form of financial aid, grants, and scholarships for college or trade schools for a variety of groups of people such as nursing students, single moms, women, and just about any U.S. Citizen seeking scholarships with the least amount of eligibility requirements.

College Grants and Scholarships with the Minimum Amount of Eligibility Requirements

The ebook needs to be updated, but there are a number of scholarships that continue to be active.

A majority of the scholarships listed require you to write an essay, but there are some scholarships listed that require no essay. Some of the scholarships are just for high school seniors. However, there are quite a few scholarships for students who have been out of high school awhile. There are scholarships for those who are about to attend college or are already in college. A majority of people will be able to apply to a majority of the 150 scholarships on this list of scholarships.

If you do not have a Kindle, you can download the free Kindle Previewer in order to view Kindle books on your PC at http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/?docId=1000765261 OR https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/help?topicId=A3IWA2TQYMZ5J6 . We know how difficult it is to format documents for the Kindle so the formatting might be kind of strange for some of the text. However, we find the text tolerable and the links work.

Normally, we advise you to see if a local library has this eBook. However, we know that eBooks are not a big part of many library’s budget so it is questionable if many libraries purchased this Kindle eBook.  We know how frustrating that it is trying to find scholarships with almost no eligibility requirements and that are "portable", so it is up to you if you want to purchase the eBook. Only you can decide if the low price is worth it.
